By Air
Geneva Airport (GVA) is the closest major international hub, with direct flights from cities across Europe, the UK, and beyond. The transfer from Geneva to Chamonix takes approximately 90 minutes by road, passing through spectacular scenery along the way. Lyon Saint-Exupéry (LYS) is a 2.5-hour drive and offers an alternative with good connections to southern France and beyond.

By Train
Trains connect Chamonix to Geneva, Paris, and other European cities. The scenic Mont-Blanc Express railway runs between Saint-Gervais and Martigny (Switzerland), passing through the Chamonix valley with stunning mountain views. From Geneva, the journey combines a mainline SNCF service to Saint-Gervais with the Mont-Blanc Express for the final scenic leg.

By Car
Chamonix is well connected by motorway from Geneva, Lyon, and Paris. The A40 (Autoroute Blanche) runs directly into the valley. The Mont Blanc Tunnel provides a direct road link to Italy and Courmayeur. Chalet Josephine includes private parking for up to 5 vehicles, so driving is a convenient option for families and groups.

Airport Transfers

Our concierge team can arrange private airport transfers directly from Geneva, Lyon, or any other airport to the door of Chalet Josephine. Private transfers offer the most comfortable and convenient way to start your holiday, particularly for families and groups travelling with luggage and ski equipment. Vehicles range from luxury saloons to spacious minibuses for larger groups. Transfers can also be arranged for day trips to Courmayeur or Annecy.
For those preferring a shared service, regular shuttle buses also operate between Geneva Airport and Chamonix, with several daily departures. The journey takes approximately 1 hour 45 minutes including stops, and drop-off points are within easy reach of the chalet.
Getting Around the Valley
Easy, convenient, and often free local transport
Free Bus Network
The Chamonix Bus network connects all the main villages and ski areas in the valley, running frequently from early morning to late evening. With the Carte d'Hôte guest card (provided with your stay at Chalet Josephine), travel on all local buses is free. The nearest bus stop to the chalet is just a short walk away, making it easy to get to any ski area or into town without a car.
Train (Mont-Blanc Express)
The Mont-Blanc Express train runs along the valley floor from Les Houches through Chamonix to Vallorcine and into Switzerland. It's a scenic and convenient way to access the different areas of the valley, and the Carte d'Hôte provides free or discounted travel. The Les Bois halt is a short walk from the chalet.
On Foot & By Bike
Chamonix town centre is approximately 15 minutes on foot from Chalet Josephine via a pleasant path through Les Bois. The valley is well-suited to cycling, with flat cycle paths running along the valley floor. Bikes can be hired locally, and our concierge team can arrange delivery to the chalet.
Taxis & Private Driver
Local taxis are available in Chamonix, though they can be busy during peak times. For maximum convenience, our concierge team can arrange a private driver and vehicle to be available throughout your stay, ensuring door-to-door transport to restaurants, ski areas, and excursions whenever you need it.
